Safflower is a small, white seed that is high in protein and fat. Sunflower-eating birds tend to love Safflower. It has a thick shell, that is hard for some birds to crack open, but is a favorite among cardinals. Safflower is a great alternative to feed where squirrels are a problem since they generally do not care for it and will leave it alone.
